Jean-Paul Gaultier, the French-born haute couture fashion designer has long been known as the bad boy of fashion. Despite his lack of formal training as a designer, Jean-Paul's first break came when he was hired as an assistant by avant-garde designer, Pierre Cardin.
Over the years, Jean Paul has built a reputation for being unconventional with his playful and often irreverent sense of style – who can forget Madonna's now infamous conical bra from her Blond Ambition Tour, a typical Gaultier creation. His first foray into the world of perfume began in 1993 with the release of his first women's perfume, Classique. This was joined in 1995 by the men's fragrance Le Male and both fragrances have remained hugely popular to this day.
Since then, Jean Paul Gaultier has continued to release popular fragrance for both men and women as well as his first unisex fragrance in the form of Gaultier 2.
