I am not usually a person that is lead, or even impressed by, celebrity culture. I like to be my own person, however individualistic and sometimes "against the grain" that may be. This even goes as far as the perfume I wear. I buy perfumes simply because I like them, and for no other reason. It does not matter (to me) if they are celebrity endorsed or not.

Glow is one of those perfumes that could have so easily passed me by. Why? Simply because it smells awful on the paper test-strip.

How many of us will first sample a fragrance on a test-strip at a perfume concession? Quite a few, I would imagine.

When writing a perfume review I always start off with a "paper test" before actually trying the fragrance on. I was instantly put off Glow by the fact it smelt like cheap soap. However, I persevered and took the plunge today and wore it to work. I am so glad I did.

It is fresh and floral, and very feminine, and compliments the fact, that today, I am wearing a simple, light, girly-pink cotton blouse and a bit of sparkly make-up, in celebration of this lovely spring day. Don't expect something citrus and zesty, this is floral, powdery and slightly spicy.

At first application you get an intense burst of florals, predominantly jasmine. This mellows over a period of about half an hour to the soft, powdery, oriental and floral heart notes. These floral notes are surprisingly long-lasting and it takes a while to finally dry-down to fresh soapy/musky base notes.

It skims perilously close to smelling too soapy but is just saved by the fact that there are floral notes that are pleasant and enduring throughout.

It also has a lot of stamina for a floral fragrance – I only had to top it up with the merest of sprays about 5 hours after first application. If you find that you cannot smell a perfume on your skin for long, you may be wearing it too much. Try alternating it with other fragrances (separately, of course) so you do not become used to one fragrance.

Glow is presented in a slender, teardrop-shaped, frosted glass bottle with its own "bling" draped around the "neck".

Yup – I have to say I like Glow, which has surprised me to be honest. It may be aimed at the younger end of the market, but that does not mean us 30 going-on 40-somethings can't wear it too.

A great perfume for the daytime, at work or on holiday! Wear it on a sunny spring or summer day with something floaty and feminine and make sure you put on your favourite lip gloss too!
