Elizabeth Arden Red Door Perfume Review

Elizabeth Arden Red DoorThere are SO many new fragrances that have been released over the last year, or even couple of years, so it may seem strange to see me reviewing a fragrance like Elizabeth Arden's Red Door. But let's face it, a great fragrance like this deserves to be reviewed. It's an old classic... something you can rely on.

The box - it's plain, it's red, it's very distinctive. There is not much to it but everyone knows that it's Red Door .

The bottle - well, the design of perfume bottles has come a very long way since 1989 but, plain as it is in comparison, to be fair, it does look like an old fashioned door, just like the red door entering the world famous red door spa's - still in existence today!

The classification of Red Door is Floral, rich / profound and, indicative of this old classic, there are not many new fragrances which are being released today which fall under that classification.

I don't normally enjoy floral fragrances but I think with this one, it's the richness of it that is completely different. It conjures up an image of a rose - one that is full, mature, deep red in colour with thick petals which are velvety to the touch and the maturity of this fragrance is further confirmed with the florals which are used as part of the ingredients - orchid, jasmine, violets, freesia & rose (to name a few) and really, when smelling the fragrance, all be it very slightly, every single one of those is clear!

It is quite a heavy fragrance, one I imagined I would only really enjoy in winter (even the ingredients are warm & wintery) or as an evening fragrance but, it's a great all-rounder since, if you wear it during the day, it comes across as being professional rather than heavy!

Red Door is my security blanket! It's the kind of fragrance I turn to when I just don't know what other fragrance I feel like wearing - there's to much to choose from - I don't feel like thinking to hard so, I turn to my reliable old friend & I know, I'll be happy!
