It seems that poor Gerard '300 abs' Butler is feeling a little left out. That's according to his recent comments in a BBC Radio 1 interview in which he bemoaned the fact that he doesn't have his own line of perfumes.
In the interview he said "Clive Owen has his aftershave (he's the face of Lancome's Hypnose Homme), Ewan McGregor has cologne (he promoted Davidoff Adventure). What do I have? Nothing. I don't know what it would be like, but I need one."
Well now the word is out there, let's see if any of the big fragrance houses are willing to bite. For his sake, his forthcoming movie, Law Abiding Citizen, better do well or he doesn't stand a chance.

Handbags at dawn - it looks like we may have an acronym catfight on our hands. There I was thinking that Donna Karan had New York's fragrance scene wrapped up with her DKNY brand and along comes Carrie Bradshaw sorry, Sarah Jessica Parker, with her own New York inspired perfume called SJP NYC.
Word is that SJP NYC was a working title for the new fragrance whilst in the lab but it seems to have stuck. The lucrative tie-in with next year's Sex and The City (SATC) movie sequel most probably had a lot to do with that. Coty Prestige, who were responsible for Sarah's previous fragrances Lovely and Covet missed a trick in 2008 as they failed to capitalise on the release of SATC which raked in around half a billion dollars worldwide. They don't intend to make that mistake again. Sarah's latest will make an initial appearance in Macy's stores in February but worldwide distribution is expected to start in May to coincide with the movie's release.
SJP NYC will be released as an eau de toilette and this fruity floral will have top notes of mandarin, white osmanthus and strawberry, a heart of gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa and red rose damascenia and a base of sandalwood, vanilla, rum and musk.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name Jimmy Choo? Shoes of course. But that could change from next year as we hear news that the brand has inked a deal with Inter Parfums to launch a fragrance in 2010.
Now this is not the first time we've been promised a Jimmy Choo perfume as the company previously had a license deal with French fragrance group, Selective Beauty (think Max Mara, Lolita Lempicka and Sonia Rykiel). Unfortunately Selective went into administration before anything could be launched. The deal with Inter Parfums is more likely to succeed given the strength of the company which owns brands like Burberry, Christian Lacroix and Paul Smith.
As yet there are no details on what to expect but hopefully it will be something out of the ordinary.

Big news for Beyonce fans as we hear that she's just landed a multi-million dollar deal with Coty to launch her own fragrance in 2010. While news of the deal itself is no surprise, I'm somewhat surprised that it's Coty given that husband Jay-Z already has a deal with Parlux fragrances.
Back in April this year when we first heard about Jay-Z's deal together with fellow hip-hopsters Kanye West and Rihanna, there was speculation that Beyonce was also in on it. Turns out that speculation was wrong. So why did she choose Coty instead of Parlux? After all Parlux already has a pretty good track record – think Paris Hilton's perfume range, which won her a Fragrance Foundation Celebrity of the Year award. Maybe Coty's offer was just too good to refuse or maybe Beyonce just felt she'd rather be rubbing shoulders with some of Coty's other perfume celebs like Halle Berry, Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Lopez.
PS - I wonder what Beyonce's friends over at L'Oreal think considering that she was the face (and voice) of Emporio Diamonds back in 2007?
Update - forget L'Oreal and Parlux, it looks like Abercrombie and Fitch have got their claws out as we hear news that they're suing Beyonce as a result of this Coty deal. Turns out they're worried it will infringe on their own Fierce fragrance brand. How? Well Beyonce's alter ego is known as Sasha Fierce. Coty has however confirmed that the terms 'Fierce' and 'Sascha Fierce' will not be used in association with her forthcoming fragrance. This just sounds like a scheme by Abercrombie's lawyers to charge some exhorbitant legal fees.

I like Paco Rabanne's 1 Million fragrance for men. It has a nice spicy zing which for me, gives it a lift and makes it a little less ordinary. But let's face it, with its gold bar shaped bottle it was a little too bling-bling. But if that wasn't enough for you you'll be happy to know that Paco Rabanne is to release a limited edition version which will only set you back a mere £35 000.
1 Million 18 Carats is definitely only for the privileged few. The fragrance itself is the same but it comes in a refillable 100ml bottle covered in real gold (no not solid gold) with a small diamond imbedded for good measure. And don't forget the custom made travel case with internal lighting and room for your refills.
In a way I'm not terribly surprised by this latest release. The fragrance was released last year with what seemed like a limitless budget. There was a dedicated website where you could upload a picture of yourself and then browse a customised version of the site showing you living the playboy lifestyle. If I remember correctly there was also a competition where the winner could become 'the face' of 1 Million and 'live the dream'. This latest version just takes it to the next level. Of course it remains to be seen how many people would actually buy this but then I'm reminded of the infamous 'I am rich' iPhone app which did absolutely nothing for $1000 other than find a few people with more money than common sense.

Let's face it, all 'celebrities' seem to have their ups and downs. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we hate them and sometimes we just love to hate them. Now Amy's certainly had her share of ups and downs and she may be a talented singer but would that really be enough to get you to buy her perfume? Her father certainly seems to think so.
According a story which appeared yesterday in the Daily Star, Amy's dad, Mitch, is keen to broker a deal with a leading perfume house after having reportedly already turned down a deal worth £500 000. Now the thought of a Winehouse perfume doesn't immediately appeal to me. In fact, a quote in the Daily Star article couldn't have put it better, "Frankly, she doesn't look like she smells that nice, so doing some positive publicity to prove it doesn't just smell of stale booze and fags would be vital." That said, I've been pleasantly surprised by some celebrity scents in the past so who knows.
Unfortunately the timing of this announcement isn't great (or maybe it's just clever PR to distract us) as Amy's currently in court for alleged assault. Given her fiery temperament and unpredictable behaviour I'd be very interested to see which, if any, of the big perfume houses would be willing to take a chance on her, and would anyone, other than her most devout fans be willing to try a little Eau d'Amy?

In April we heard news that Uma Thurman was set to be the face of the next Givenchy perfume. Scheduled for release in August, the perfume in question is Ange ou Demon Le Secret, a follow up to the original Ange ou Demon but this time with a little more Angel than Demon.
Ange ou Demon always played on the duality of women and how an angelic air could hide a darker, mischievous side, and the original fragrance was definitely more mysterious. This time Ange ou Demon Le Secret, a delicate floral, explores the other side of the mystery of femininity – the angelic. Chosen for her own paradoxical personality, Uma got to discover her inner angel in the TV ad for the new fragrance.
Available as an Eau de Parfum, Ange ou Demon Le Secret contains top notes of lemon, cranberry and green tea with a floral heart of jasmine and peony on a base of patchouli and woods.

You may have heard this one before, the story where someone is rendered unconscious and robbed after being offered a perfume sample in the street. According to a report in the Halifax Courier, this urban myth has reared its head again as this time, home owners are accosted by would-be burglars with samples.
Firstly, let's just make it absolutely clear that this is indeed a myth. According to a spokesperson, "Humberside Police has received no reports of crimes that have occurred of this nature." Secondly, and maybe it's just me being too much of a cynic, but even if this were true, who in their right mind would answer the door to a stranger and sniff anything? I've certainly never heard of door-to-door perfume salesmen. Anyway, if you want to try perfumes, you're better off getting them from our perfume sample service – our samples are 100% guaranteed knock-out proof.
